Schaumburg Family Photographer – The Pope Family!

Growing up, a camera filled with film and a video camera were always around. As one of four children, we often poked fun at our parents who have trunks full of printed photos. And when I say “trunks”, I’m talking “vintage antique trunks like you’d have seen on the Titanic” style of trunks. So many intangibles get lost because of this current digital era. People now have hard drives and cell phones as their storage. What is that doing for our children’s future? Sure, someday they will be able to sift through thousands of images on a screen of their childhood, assuming there is some sort of organizational system to our backups.

I talk about this issue all the time with my clients. I always push the importance of printing photos. Just because it’s not going on the wall right now, doesn’t mean it won’t be something you want to tangibly hold in the future. Something happens to you when you hold a printed photo of your family in your hands. We swell up with pride and want to show people. Printed photos are part of our legacy. Because of this, we remember how fast time goes.

I personally take time each quarter to print my favorite images of my children. I to question, why am I doing this? So they can go in a box for now in a closet? But I do it anyways. I want my children to be able to look back at their childhood and have the ability to see that I valued these little moments. I want to be able to hold a photo and tell the story of that moment and what it means to me.

This session was super near and dear to my heart. This momma is just an amazing woman all around. She and I have grown to become close friends over the past 8-10 years (I lose track of time!). We’ve bonded through pregnancy, growing pains of motherhood, work stress…you name it, there’s not really a topic off limits. The love she and her husband share for each other and their children is really something special, and documenting it was such a treat for me. I know she values these moments as much as I do. This session was Pure Gold for me. Above all, it was so good for the soul!
