How Often Should You Do Professional Photos? Your Question Answered!
I am often asked, how often should we come for photos when my child is young? I love this question. On one hand, any photos are better than none, but the honest answer is you can never have enough photos of your baby when they are young. The transformation a baby makes in the first year is remarkable. They go from barely opening their eyes, to rolling over, sitting up, crawling, and eventually walking all within a year’s time. They go from sleeping no more than 2-3 hours at at time, to sleeping all night long (in most cases). Their personality comes to life. A photo I take of a child at 2 weeks old is nothing like the photos I will take of them at 9 months old. Once a child starts walking, the photos change again.
Next comes the toddler phase, which I typically consider to start around 18 months old. All of the sudden, they have asserted their independence. At this age, the photo session changes again. The child often doesn’t want to be held, and at this age, I love outdoors sessions! It’s the perfect opportunity for the toddler who has just found his or her first steps to explore and get to explore!
Sweet Parker was nine months at this session. He is in that sweet spot of sitting up perfectly, loves being held by his mom and dad, and yet he couldn’t quite run away from me yet. 🤪 He is such a beautiful little boy. We had the most perfect night as well, and I couldn’t be more in love with these photos of him!
